The new team will also be strengthened by two senior data scientists from the data and tech team.
“Recent developments in AI, combined with our own research and insight, show that we need to increase our strategic focus in the AI domain,” says Chief Data & Technology Officer Sven Størmer Thaulow.
Andreas Bengtsson, who will head the merged team, adds:
“We see an increasing need from group functions, our business areas and Schibsted’s brands to get support and access to competence within AI. With the merged Schibsted Futures and AI Lab we create a one-stop-shop for AI in Schibsted.”
Futures Lab and The AI Enablement Program will continue their current missions in the new set-up:
- The AI Enablement Program runs the Schibsted AI Academy and supports teams with scaling up infrastructure and maintaining frameworks for AI use.
- The Futures Lab will maintain its focus on strategy, foresight and forecasting, educating on foresight processes, and reducing uncertainties in plausible futures through experimentation and research.
Andreas Bengtsson says the strengthened unit will increase Schibsted’s capacity for research and development within AI.
“Bringing the teams closer will increase value creation for Schibsted as we integrate the Futures Lab’s long-term perspective with the AI Enablement’s more operative perspective. The unified team will serve as a resource for Schibsted’s brands, reduce uncertainty and maintain Schibsted’s position at the forefront of innovation.”
“It is also our goal to increase the understanding of AI across all of Schibsted and boost the adoption of these emerging capabilities.”
