How do we create more equal job opportunities for everyone? It all starts with the hiring process and now Schibsted has launched a playbook on how to recruit more inclusively.
“Through extensive research and interviews with experts, we’ve uncovered invaluable insight into what it takes to hire a more diverse workforce and create an extraordinary experience for everyone,” says Kent Haga, Head of Talent Acquisition, who has led the project together with Sumeet Singh Patpatia, Head of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
“We’ve listened, we’ve learned, and now it’s time to put our newfound knowledge into action,” says Sumeet.
The playbook contains concrete tools to help recruiters to succeed in creating a more diverse workplace. These are the main areas:
- Insights, useful tips and guidelines
- In-depth studies of six types of diversity
- Focus areas on the candidate journey
- Schibsted’s seven principles for an inclusive hiring process
“If we want to continue to grow and stay relevant to new users, we as a company and our workforce must mirror society. However, to truly embrace diversity, we also need to ensure our recruitment practices are inclusive, equitable, and welcoming to all. We must do it right and with knowledge,” says Sumeet.
Plans on sharing externally
The playbook will be the foundation of how Schibsted will create great candidate journeys for all kinds of people. Recently an internal education program in DIB, diversity, inclusion and belonging was also launched as part of a larger plan to lift the competence within the company.
But there is also a possibility to spread the insight in the playbook more widely. In the future, Schibsted Nordic Marketplaces, which runs job portals like FINN in Norway, Blocket in Sweden, and Oikotie in Finland, will share the insights from the playbook with their customers to create ripple effects across industries and foster more inclusive hiring practices.
Schibsted Jobs is committed to changing the job market with the ambitious purpose of creating equal job opportunities for everyone.
“With this playbook in hand, we can ensure that every candidate feels valued, respected, and seen. It’s about unlocking potential and, ultimately, empowering people, employers and society,” Sumeet says.
