Aftonbladet and SvD scoop up awards at Årets Dagstidning

Schibsted Media stood in the spotlight when Årets Dagstidning 2025 was held at Berns in Stockholm.

Svenska Dagbladet, Aftonbladet and Sportbladet were awarded at Årets Dagstidning 2025.

Both Aftonbladet and Svenska Dagbladet were recognized in multiple categories, once again showcasing the power of quality journalism, innovation, and bold editorial initiatives.

Double win for Aftonbladet 🏆🏆

Aftonbladet received two major awards:

Best Coverage was awarded for “Anna Kinberg Batra’s note” – an investigation into the then-Governor of Stockholm County, Anna Kinberg Batra. The story had a major impact and contributed to her resignation.
“It feels incredibly rewarding,” said reporter Olof Svensson, who conducted the investigation together with Fredrik Björkman.

Jury’s motivation: “The only thing that nearly failed in the investigation was getting an interview with the main subject. The solution? Using her own method – a note left at the County Administrative Board’s reception desk. The result was a journalistic bullseye that dominated the news cycle and had political consequences.”

Best Reader Business went to Sportbladet for its work in creating engaging and value-driven journalism for its audience.
“If you work in sports, you love to win – so this is really fun,” said Magnus Herbertsson, head of Sportbladet.

Jury’s motivation: “With creativity and force, new technologies and business models have been developed. Sales have increased among both new and existing customers through cross-channel collaboration. Bold and unconventional projects have delivered strong results and future potential.”

SvD Kompakt – Innovation of the Year 🚀

Svenska Dagbladet took home the award for Best Innovation with SvD Kompakt – a smart, fast-paced news service designed to reach younger readers.

“There’s a strong drive at SvD to develop our journalism and find new ways to reach our readers. SvD Kompakt is the essence of that work, and it’s incredibly rewarding to be recognized in this way,” said Erik Hedtjärn, Managing Editor.

Jury’s motivation: “Editorial and commercial innovation in a new format, with content tailored to the needs of the target group and strengthening the brand. Short, fast, and to the point.”
