Enjoy podcast tips from Podme!

Podme has been part of the Schibsted family since 2019. They offer more than 10,000 premium podcast episodes and this summer the Podme team shares their best recommendations for a perfect holiday sound experience.

We will publish two recommendations each week on Schibsted’s social channels, one more targeted to the Norwegian audience and one for the Swedish audience. But for those of you who want to plan ahead we also give you the full list at the end of this article. To be reminded – follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram.

Podme has made a successful start in Schibsted. It’s the fastest-growing subscription service in our history. Today Schibsted owns 91 % of the company and investing has been part of a long-term strategy to focus on the sound segment.

A natural part of the company

Supporting content creation, Podme is also a natural part of a media company like Schibsted and the team cooperates with Schibsted’s large media brands in many ways, not least by producing podcasts.

Podme was founded in 2017, when donations, sponsorships, and advertising revenue were essentially the only ways for podcast creators to be compensated for their work. At the same time brands were eager to align themselves with well-known personality-driven podcasts but creators who shared stories about crime and drama had to operate their podcasts as hobby projects. The outcome was that many creators had to give up, compromise on quality, or release episodes with lengthy gaps in between.

That’s why Podme was born. Today the company has 75 employees and they cooperate with some well-known cultural voices and podcast profiles such as Nikotellen, Tore & Harald and JLC. Customers can either access free podcasts or subscribe to the premium offer which is ad-free.
