At today’s Annual General Meeting, two new members of the Board were elected by the shareholders: Tanya Cordrey, Chief Digital Officer at global news organization Guardian News & Media and Birger Steen, CEO of Parallels, a world leader in the virtualization and cloud services platform market.
“I am very happy that Tanya Cordrey and Birger Steen have accepted to join the Board. They both have extensive knowledge of the media business and valuable international experience. The Board’s top priority will be to ensure that Schibsted continues to pursue its digital ambitions at full speed and strength. The two new members of the Board will strengthen our focus on development, innovation and digital transformation,” says Ole Jacob Sunde, Chairman of the Board in Schibsted Media Group.
Tanya Cordrey
Tanya Cordrey is Chief Digital Officer at Guardian News & Media, heading up the organization’s 150-strong product, engineering and data and analytics teams. Tanya has worked in both large and small digital organizations since the late 1990s. She served as Product Director at eBay UK & Ireland, where she was a member of the management Board and was responsible for website and mobile innovation during a period when eBay achieved record levels of customer acquisition and activity. Tanya was part of the European senior team at eToys and established BabyCenter.com in the UK. Before joining GNM, she was the UK GM for respected UK start-up Zopa.com. Tanya holds an MBA with distinction from the London Business School.
Birger Steen
Birger Steen is CEO of Parallels, a world leader in the virtualization and cloud services platform market, and is based in Seattle, WA. He previously served as Vice President of WW SMB & Distribution at Microsoft Corp. in Redmond and as General Manager of Microsoft Russia and Microsoft Norway. Prior to joining Microsoft in 2002, Birger was Vice President of Business Development with Schibsted ASA.
Birger Steen holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science and Industrial Engineering from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim. He also holds a degree in Russian Language from the Defense School of Intelligence and Security and received his MBA from INSEAD in France.
Marie Ehrling and Karl-Christian Agerup step down
Marie Ehrling and Karl-Christian Agerup step down from the Board. Ehrling joined the Board in 2008. Agerup was elected deputy Board member in 2004, and then regular Board member from 2008.
