Schibsted has agreed to acquire all shares in HomeQ Technologies AB, a Swedish marketplace for first-hand rental apartments that connects property companies with potential tenants.
Founded in 2016, HomeQ has rapidly developed to become a leading business-to-consumer platform for professional landlords, and an alternative to the large public-housing queues. As such, it complements Schibsted’s Real Estate marketplace business and offers a strong potential growth opportunity, especially in combination with Schibsted’s consumer-to-consumer rental platform Qasa.
“With HomeQ and its talented team as part of the Schibsted family, we take an important step in making first-hand rental contracts more accessible, with a better service for tenants and landlords alike,” said Kjersti Høklingen, SVP Real Estate within Schibsted Nordic Marketplaces. “We believe there’s a great untapped market potential for providing better services for tenants and landlords, and that our Real Estate marketplaces have an important role to play in realising that potential.”
HomeQ has experienced strong growth in recent years, with 67% year-on-year revenue growth in 2023. The HomeQ team currently consists of 19 people. Hedi Kurda, who is the CEO and founder, will continue to lead the company.
“Schibsted has always seemed like one of the natural possible long-term homes for HomeQ, bringing compelling synergies and prospects of a Nordic journey. We are excited about the next chapter in our story, especially because it will be written together with a strategic owner with whom we have truly clicked,” said Hedi Kurda.
