Schibsted Ventures is investing in Askin following a new share issue in which the health tech company raised a total of the equivalent of NOK 20 million. The company expects growth in the coming years.
“The combination of medical and health experts and our self-developed technical platform has proven to be both effective and sought after. Previously, it could take several months to get help with skin diseases, but by using Askin we can help patients almost immediately,” says the founder and medical director Mohammad Rizvi.
Schibsted joins the company
“We are very impressed by Mohammad and the rest of the team. In Europe, millions of people suffer from skin problems and skin cancer is increasing. At the same time, there are long waiting lists to get in touch with a dermatologist. With a smart digital solution at a competitive price, Askin lowers the threshold. We strongly believe in their solution and look forward to supporting the company further,” says Dan Ouchterlony, EVP Shibsted Ventures.
“Schibsted is also an active owner and can assist with everything from marketing, HR and PR to internationalization in addition to the investment itself,” Dan Ouchterlony continues.
Askin’s service is based on international research that shows that photos work very well in diagnosing skin diseases.
“We have 16 highly competent doctors who work hard together to find effective solutions to people’s skin diseases. 84 per cent of the sent in photos can be solved by the doctors without the patient having to see a doctor physically. With new owners and capital, Askin will have the opportunity to develop new product areas. We look forward to the continuation,” says Mohammad Rizvi.
There are also several dermatologists among Askin’s co-owners.
