With groundbreaking AI dubbing technology, Arabic-speaking listeners will get a unique insight into Swedish domestic politics and society. “Aftonbladet Daily Arabic med Alkompis” will release one episode per week, carefully selected from that week’s Swedish episodes of Aftonbladet Daily. The focus is on providing information relevant to the Arabic-speaking population in Sweden, which might be hard to access due to language barriers.
“We see huge potential in making Aftonbladet Daily’s journalism accessible to a broader audience. The collaboration with Alkompis and the use of AI technology opens up completely new possibilities to reach new groups,” says Martin Schori, deputy editor-in-chief at Aftonbladet.

This new partnership combines Aftonbladet’s journalistic expertise with Alkompis’s reach and trust among Arabic speakers in Sweden. Daily Arabic is built on AI translation technology, and the content will be reviewed by Alkompis journalists to ensure quality.
Daily Arabic will be launched at the end of October and will be available on several platforms, including Acast, YouTube, and TikTok. Listeners will have the chance to delve deeper into current news events and phenomena relevant to our times.
“Collaborating with Sweden’s largest daily newspaper to offer our audience an already established and appreciated journalistic product in their native language is incredibly exciting. Daily Arabic provides a deeper understanding of news and societal issues, which aligns perfectly with Alkompis’s mission to reduce the information gap in Swedish society. The fact that this is done with groundbreaking AI technology makes it even more thrilling,” says Julia Agha, CEO of Alkompis.
Aftonbladet Daily started in 2018 and has grown into Sweden’s largest news podcast with around 350,000 weekly listens.
Here’s how it works:
- Alkompis selects an episode of Aftonbladet Daily from the past week.
- The episode is transcribed and translated by Elevenlabs.
- Alkompis journalists review the transcription and translation.
- A speech synthesis then reads out the translation using unique voice clones created by Alkompis, or with clones of real voices where participants have given their consent.
